A childhood classic that will entertain today's kids

Do you remember the "tea light - pin - coloured fingers" technique? And even if you don't, it's okay - now is the perfect time to remember (or teach the next generation) 🐔 Try this tried and tested tip that will entertain the whole family.

What you need:

  • Blown and dried 🐤Pipidu eggs🐤,
  • tea lights (great if they are coloured) or beeswax,
  • a round-headed pin stuck into a pencil,
  • food or natural colours (e.g. beetroot, turmeric, paprika, tea...),
  • vinegar, water, brush, brushes, sponge,
  • hairspray or acrylic lacquer for the finish.

Procedure:

  1. Egg blowing - the most stressful part of the whole mission

But don't worry, you can do it easily by following this procedure:

  • Make two small holes - one at the top, one at the bottom (e.g. with a needle or skewer).
  • Using a thin instrument (toothpick, paper clip...), gently stir the contents inside to loosen the yolk.
  • Shake the egg and then blow out the contents - it is easier and with less lung effort.
  • Traditional waxing and decorating

Warm the wax from the tea light candle (just light it) and when it melts, use a pin stuck in a pencil to start drawing designs on the shell.

  • The areas where the wax has been applied will remain the original colour after staining.
  • If you have colored candles, you can just leave the egg waxed - it looks beautiful without further coloring.

3. Colouring - the most fun (and colourful) part:

  • Food colours:
1 cup warm water + 1 tbsp vinegar + paint as directed. Mix well and let the eggs soak for 5-10 min.
  • Natural colours:
Boil the selected material (e.g., beets, onion skins, turmeric) in 2 cups of water for 30 minutes. Drain, let cool, add 1 tbsp vinegar. Soak the eggs as for conventional dyeing.
  • Multi-coloured effects:
Once the base colour has dried, use a brush, sponge or brush to add more layers or designs.

4. Wax removal:
Once the paint is dry, gently warm the egg over a candle and wipe off the wax - your designs will appear.

5. Final adjustments:
For shine, spray with varnish or rub with a little oil.

Happy holidays wishes Sanagro 🐇🐰
